Rustic Chic Remodel – Professional Photos

How’s this for a little Friday fun?

We had these photos taken a couple of months back with the intent of submitting the project for the Remodeling Excellence (REX) Awards.  Now that the judging is complete (all those judges follow this blog, I’m sure!), I’m excited to share the images with you.

We love how this project turned out.  If you recall, it started something like this,

Now, the bedroom looks like this!

The reclaimed wood really spoke to the home owner and worked for the aesthetic they wanted.  The Lakeville team did an expert job putting the Trestlewood together in a way where it looks like it could be structural and detailing beyond the ceiling so that it was an integral part of the room’s aesthetic.

Besides just being a room that feels great, there are a lot of new features in the space that contribute to it working well too.  The stone fireplace with gas fireplace insert (heat with the flip of a switch).  Ceiling fan with light and wall sconces.    Pella double sliding doors with integral shades (as in, between the panes of glass–no dust).  A skylight.  Hardwood floors.   It’s a huge departure from what was, and fulfills the potential of what could be.

The bathroom combines natural materials with modern comforts.  The artisan vanity also incorporates the rustic chic aesthetic with its distressed wood, hammered copper sinks and vintage hardware.  Again, it’s highly usable.  The skylight provides so much light, the necessity of artificial lighting is questionable during day time hours.  Multiple shower heads.  And the floors are of course, heated.

This project is a success because of the team that put it together.  Homeowners with impeccable taste and vision, Gelotte Hommas Architects capturing that vision and putting it on paper, and Lakeville for handling the nuts and bolts to make it a reality.  I believe there is a long way down from the bar that was set with this combination.

We hope you enjoy the space, happy home owners!  Thank you for letting us be a part of it!
