We, at Lakeville Homes are keeping good company these days. Qualified Remodeler, a national industry publication, did an article this month on Women in Remodeling. Of the entire nation, they interviewed 8 women in the industry. And of those 8 women, 3 of them come from the Seattle area. I am honored to be recognized amongst this local group. First of all, both these lovely women have about 10 years on me in age, so I think I’m doing okay holding my ground. Then, when you hear about the list of organizations these women have participated in, you’ll understand the caliber of person Qualified Remodeler has grouped me with. I am humbled. Donna Shirey was the Master Builders Association’s (MBA) second women to be President of the Association. The nation’s oldest and largest home builders association. Sherry Schwab is the current MBA President. Besides that, these women have been involved in our industry association on state and national levels. They’ve...

Over the past few years, Congress has continued with a sales tax deduction offset. It is not a part of the tax code, so...

With the client at the forefront of our thoughts, we still need to navigate the sub-contractors, designers and jurisdiction. Sometimes there are disagreements, but we always...

Sheetrock is up, the walls are taped and textured. The hardwood floors have been installed. Because of acute allergies, this home is carpet-free....

One of the challenges here is that the home owner wants wood floor throughout the bedroom wing (which is the area we are working on). However the existing structure was originally built as a garage. Subsequent owners had different ideas about how the...

To our great fortune, the remodel we started this week is predominately interior work. That paired with the slab on grade structure, few finish materials remaining and our Lakeville’s careful attention make this an ideal winter...

While it will be early December before we have all of the sign-offs and the trucks back up to the garage with a family’s earthly belongings, things really are taking shape inside. Here’s a short photo tour (I can’t wait until we have...
